United Synagogue Youth

Our invigorated USY chapter, composed of KMUSY for grades 7 to 12, and Kadima programs for grades 4 to 6, is a wonderful social and educational addition to our formal classroom studies.

Activities range from social to religious to community service; there are many opportunities to join with youth throughout the Los Angeles area and the Western Region for local events and Shabbat weekends.

As a member of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, the Kehillat Ma'arav youth group is an active part of the Pacific Southwest Region's United Synagogue Youth (USY) program.

Kehillat Ma'arav's USY chapter, or KMUSY for short, was nominated two years ago as the outstanding chapter in the region. It is the 8th largest chapter in the 45-chapter region.

Some of KMUSY's activities include:
  • social events
  • sports
  • social action
  • religious service
  • casino nights
  • regional dances
  • kinnusim
  • conventions
KMUSY is allied with Congregation Mishkon Tephilo, drawing its members from Kehillat Ma'arav and eight other local synagogues on the Westside. KMUSY's yearly program begins right after the High Holy Days and continues until the end of June.

USY Chapter programs resume in September, but there are USY Regional programs, such as USY on Wheels and Israel Pilgrimage during the summer months.

To keep up with specific USY and Kadima activities, visit the Youth Activities section of the site.
