She became an international star and ruled the world of vaudeville\, music halls\, b urlesque\, nightclubs\, and later Hollywood\, performing in both Yiddish a nd English in a career that spanned over 62 years. Known for her powerful delivery of comical and risqué songs\, she was one of the more popular en tertainers in the U.S. during the first half of the 20th century. \;\n \nBefore Lady Gaga\, Madonna\, Bette Midler\, Judy Garland\, Marilyn Monro e and Mae West\, she was the first woman to infatuate audiences with a bol d\, bawdy and brassy style unlike any other. Known by the nickname "The La st of the Red Hot Mamas"\, her career ended with her passing on Feb. 6\, 1 966 in New York.
